Invariant proudly announces the creation of the Pickard Strong Scholarship. The scholarship honors Jack ‘Warren’ Pickard, a lifelong member of the Invariant family.


Warren was born on September 7th, 1955, in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1973, where he participated in numerous extracurricular activities. He was elected for the American Legion’s Boys State, was a member of the Acapella Madrigal Choral Group, and won state competitions in French. After high school, Warren became an ROTC City Battalion Commander for all Memphis high schools. This transitioned into further opportunities at West Point and the Air Force Academy. His expert marksmanship and ever-growing interests granted him a life full of success and extraordinary accomplishments.


Warren had an extremely diverse educational background and excelled in numerous fields of study. He studied at Memphis State University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Electrical Engineering. After discovering his technical strengths, he attended the University of Central Florida where he earned his master’s degree in electro-optics. He was a member of the first ever graduating class from the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers (CREOL).


Invariant is dedicated to awarding the Pickard Strong Scholarship fund to an individual who seeks out similar values and ambitions as Warren. The ideal recipient will have a robust leadership background and a showcased history of participation in school and community engagements.


To apply, applicants must complete the Pickard Strong Scholarship Application Form and email a transcript to PickardStrongScholarship@invariant-corp.com by April 15th, 2022.


Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
